At least empirically for 'devel', the topmost commit (HEAD of the
branch) is taken even without the version bump; the R-universe builders
seem to get the new packages a bit earlier than the official
Bioconductor mirror.

In release branches, a version bump is required for the tarball to be
built. E.g. for dominoSignal: the HEAD of the RELEASE_3_23 branch is
c728970521 (2026-04-29), but the tarball is built from commit 6e44387
(2026-04-28). (Thankfully, the difference is a few lines in README.md.)
