[Bioc-devel] ornery package: Users are warned that some or all of the manufacturer supplied files that this package is based on have been labeled as unsupported by their sources

Hi Wolfgang,

Sorry that our warning was confusing to you. That warning is just
trying to tell you that Affymetrix has put the base mapping files online
and then, right next to these files has placed the ambiguous and scary
sounding warning that these files are "unsupported".

We felt that you should be aware about what the manufacturer had said
about that, and other users have agreed with us that they wanted to be
warned about this message so we have passed it along as a warning that
loads when the package is loaded. Sometime before the next release, I
will adjust the code that is issuing the warning, and the packages that
need to call this code, so that you can at least know more clearly which
package is issuing by the warning even if you are calling it from
several layers away. But in the meantime, if you have an alternate
wording for the warning that you think would be more clear, please let
us know.

  Marc
