Copyright and license information for freesurferformats and its optional data files ====================================================================================== This file documents the ownership of copyright and intellectual property of all components of the freesurferformats package, including the optional data files that can be downloaded at runtime via download_opt_data(). It is provided in compliance with the CRAN Repository Policy (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/policies.html). 1. Package code --------------- The freesurferformats package code is (c) Tim Schaefer, and is licensed under the MIT license. See the files 'LICENSE' and 'LICENSE_FULL' for details. 2. Demo data downloaded by download_opt_data(): subjects_dir/subject1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- The demo subject data ('subjects_dir/subject1', including the mri/, surf/, label/, and ext/ subdirectories) was created by Tim Schaefer, the author of freesurferformats, using FreeSurfer. It is the author's own data and carries no third-party copyright. It is provided for testing, examples, and the vignette. 3. CIFTI-2 example data downloaded by download_opt_data(): cifti/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- The files 'Conte69.L.inflated.32k_fs_LR.surf.gii', 'Conte69.R.inflated.32k_fs_LR.surf.gii', and 'Conte69.MyelinAndCorrThickness.32k_fs_LR.dscalar.nii' are part of the official CIFTI-2 example dataset provided by the CIFTI Connectivity File Format project on NITRC (https://www.nitrc.org/projects/cifti/). The example dataset is provided under the Open Data Commons Public Domain Dedication and Licence (PDDL 1.0), see http://opendatacommons.org/licenses/pddl/1.0/. The Conte69 surface template contained in these files was created by the Van Essen Lab (Washington University School of Medicine) as part of the Human Connectome Project (HCP); see the HCP Open Access Data Use Terms (https://www.humanconnectome.org/license). MNI152 template downloaded by download_opt_data(): nifti2/ ------------------------------------------------------------- The file 'avg152T1_LR_nifti2.nii.gz' is a NIfTI-2 conversion of the MNI152 ('avg152T1') 1mm T1-weighted average brain template. The MNI152 template originates from the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) / ICBM project and is widely redistributed (e.g., as part of FSL and SPM) for non-commercial research use. The NIfTI-2 variant distributed here is a derived conversion prepared for testing the NIfTI-2 reader. 5. MRtrix3 test data downloaded by download_opt_data(): dwi/ ------------------------------------------------------------ The files 'tracks.tck' and 'tracks.tsf' are synthetic tractography test data in the MRtrix3 track (TCK) and track scalar (TSF) file formats. They were generated with MRtrix3 (https://www.mrtrix3.org/) and contributed to freesurferformats via pull request #36 (https://github.com/dfsp-spirit/freesurferformats/pull/36) under the package's MIT license. They do not contain any third-party image data. The TCK/TSF file format is defined by the MRtrix3 project (J-Donald Tournier et al.) and is described at https://mrtrix.readthedocs.io/en/latest/getting_started/image_data.html. Availability --------------- None of the optional data files described above are part of the freesurferformats package itself. They are downloaded on demand from a public web server (https://rcmd.org/projects/nitestdata/) or from the GitHub release (https://github.com/dfsp-spirit/freesurferformats/releases/tag/nitestdata-v1) into a local package file cache managed by the 'pkgfilecache' package. Users must comply with the respective licenses of the data they download.
