The R source code, documentation written for this package and maintenance scripts are distributed under the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPL-3), as declared in DESCRIPTION. Brazilian territorial meshes and hierarchy ------------------------------------------- The bundled territorial geometries, geographic identifiers and territorial hierarchy are derived from data published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, IBGE). Primary sources: * IBGE municipal mesh archive: https://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/organizacao_do_territorio/malhas_territoriais/malhas_municipais/ * IBGE Localities API: https://servicodados.ibge.gov.br/api/docs/localidades * IBGE open data information: https://www.ibge.gov.br/acesso-informacao/dados-abertos.html The package author selected the bundled editions, standardized fields and coordinate reference systems, repaired invalid geometries, simplified the municipal meshes and encoded the installed objects as compressed TopoJSON. The exact source URLs and checksums for municipal editions are installed in maps/municipality/index.csv. The state_hex and state_region cartograms are curated representations created for this package from official state identifiers. They are not official IBGE territorial boundaries. Example datasets ---------------- The gini2015 and pop2017 example datasets are derived from data published by IBGE. The deaths example dataset is derived from data published by DATASUS, the Informatics Department of the Brazilian Unified Health System. Attribution of the original data remains with the respective public institutions. Inclusion in brazilmaps does not imply endorsement by IBGE or DATASUS. Users should consult the source institutions for the terms and metadata applicable to the original datasets.
