--- title: "Benchmark Releases" output: rmarkdown::html_vignette vignette: > %\VignetteIndexEntry{Benchmark Releases} %\VignetteEngine{knitr::rmarkdown} %\VignetteEncoding{UTF-8} --- ```{r, include = FALSE} knitr::opts_chunk$set( collapse = TRUE, comment = "#>" ) ``` ```{r, eval=FALSE} library(PublicationBiasBenchmark) ``` The simulated datasets, raw results, and performance measures of the benchmark are stored on [Zenodo](https://zenodo.org/communities/publicationbiasbenchmark/) and published in releases. A release is a fixed snapshot of the whole benchmark: once published, it never changes. When new methods are added or an error is corrected, a new release is published and the older ones remain available. Any analysis based on a given release can therefore be reproduced exactly. ## Which Release Am I Using? Each version of the package uses a default release, usually the latest one at the time the package version was released. All download and retrieve functions use this default unless you select another release. You can list the available releases with [`list_benchmark_releases()`](../reference/benchmark_catalog.html): ```{r, eval=FALSE} list_benchmark_releases() ``` ## Using a Specific Release To keep working with the same data after a package update, select the release explicitly, either in each call: ```{r, eval=FALSE} download_dgm_measures("Stanley2017", release = "2026.2") retrieve_dgm_measures("Stanley2017", release = "2026.2") ``` or once for the whole session: ```{r, eval=FALSE} PublicationBiasBenchmark.options(benchmark_release = "2026.2") ``` Downloaded files are checked against the release and stored in your resources directory. Files that are the same in several releases are downloaded only once. To free disk space, [`prune_benchmark_archives()`](../reference/prune_benchmark_archives.html) removes downloaded ZIP files whose contents have already been extracted (run it with `dry_run = FALSE`). ## Citing a Release Every release has its own DOI (the `doi` column of `list_benchmark_releases()`). Cite the DOI of the release you used, together with the package (`citation("PublicationBiasBenchmark")`). ## Release History | Release | Changes | |---------|---------| | [2026.2](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23121978) | Corrects 11 replacement-measure tables (AK, MAN, MMPH, and RTMA) that contained missing values because of a bug in combining results. All other files are identical to 2026.1. | | [2026.1](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23070787) | The original benchmark, moved from OSF to Zenodo. | ## How Are New Releases Made? New methods are contributed together with their computed results (see [Computing Method Results](Computing_Method_Results.html)). The package maintainers then compute the measures, publish a new release containing the new files, and make it the default in the next package version. Files that did not change are carried over unchanged, so results that are already published stay exactly the same. The maintainer workflow is described in [`RELEASING.md`](https://github.com/FBartos/PublicationBiasBenchmark/blob/master/.github/RELEASING.md) in the GitHub repository.
