- Quiz 1 (Thursday April 12):
- The quiz will be given in the last 20 minutes of your section.
- It will cover Chapter 1, 2, 3 and 19, plus the
corresponding material we discussed in class.
- In the first question you will have to give a definition of a statistical term.
There will be one or two other questions, taken directly from:
- all exercises in Chapter 2
- all exercises in Chapter 3
- all exercises in Chapter 19, except for review exercises 7-11 on pages 352-353

- The midterm will be given from 8:30-9:30am, in

- A normal table will be provided to you.
- Be aware that problems on the midterm will be more involved
than problems on the quizzes. The special review exercises in
Chapter 6 (pages 105-108) are good preparation. I will take
one problem directly from this exercise set.

- Please be aware of the fact that it will take some time to collect all your exams. So
you will not be able to leave at 9:20am sharp. If you have another exam at 9:30, please email

took the quiz scores in percentages, dropped the lowest one, and took the
average of the other two. The summary statistics for those scores are:

- The final will be given from 8:30-10:20am, in the following

- Here are some tips for preparing for the final exam:
- Read the summaries in the book that are given at the end
of each chapter, and go through the lecture notes and your own notes.
- Look at all your graded homeworks, quizzes and exams, and
find out where you lost points. Make sure you understand why points
were deducted, and pay special attention in your preparation to material
on which you didn't do very well.
- Do lots of practice problems. Some problems that are
especially good are:

- All special review exercises in chapter 23 (pages
428-436), except for exercises 13-15
- All special review exercises in chapter 29 (pages
