Paragliding at Fairgrounds, near Cumberland (MD), USA
These pictures were taken by Marcel Dettling and Allen Sparks on July 20, 2005.

The road to the High Point launch is 4WD only. We were glad that local pilot Jim Rowan gave us a ride.

The view from launch. The LZ is the furthest field, left and above of the race track. It's a 6:1 glide from launch.

This is the slot at High Point. Not big, but big enough for one paraglider...

And yes, we got in the air! This is me on my orange Paratech P26, flying above Sparky.

That's me again, soaring above the Appalachian ridges. I flew for more than 3 hours. Great!

An aerial of the Fairgrounds cliff slot, an alternate launch in more southwesterly winds.

That's the LZ, also used as a parking lot for the Allegheny County Fair. It filled up more and more...

By the time I landed, only one and a half of the grass strips were not occupied by cars. I managed the spot landing :-)

Finally, every pilot needs to sign the waiver. Tigers don't make an exception for this rule.
