CompiCampus Course

Lecture notes, slides and data sets used during the course are available on the SfS ftp server.

This course is intended for students of the ETH and other universities and will be provided free of charge.

Dates and registration can be accessed via the CompiCampus website.

Description

R is a versatile and extensive open source statistics software. Since R is syntax based it needs a little more effort to get acquainted with the language. An effort easily repaid by the flexibility and copious possibilities of the program, especially for users regularly performing statistical analyses. R achieves an increasing acceptance particularly in universities.

Goal
You will learn to know the face and concepts of R. The course is mainly aimed at users unfamiliar or new to R. The course is not recommended for people using R already on a regular basis, because the course will start from scratch and thus be underchallenging for them.

Contents
Basic functions, tools, working sets, tips and tricks

Requirements
Basic computer and statistics skills, i.e. you should be familiar with the following terms: Sample, normal distribution, expectation and variance.

Regarding questions about the course you may reach us under beratung@stat.math.ethz.ch. The software can be downloaded at http://www.r-project.org/.
